Repair and Restoration of Metalwork
Products
Most of our standard products are based on Edwardian and Victorian designs and are cast in Grey/Gray iron. However, where greater ductility, mechanical strength and shock resistance are required in a product due to its application or design, we cast in Ductile iron (also known as SG-Spheroidal Graphite iron). Ductile iron is usually the preferred material for casting slender railing posts and lighting columns.
We will be happy to develop any products you are not able to find in our standard range.
Cast Iron Bollards
Our products can be found installed in prominent streets and town centres, car parks, supermarkets and shopping malls.
Most of our cast Bollards can be supplied in Grey iron, Ductile(SG) iron or Aluminium.
Modifications such as crests and logos can be cast onto the bollards and barrier systems can be created by having eyelets for chain fixing and receptacles or bosses for bars and tubes.
Standard bollards are supplied with roots for burying in ground, however base plates can be fitted for surface bolting. Bollards can also be supplied hinged or for removable purposes.
Metal primer paint finish is offered as standard but fully finished painted products can be supplied at request.
Composite Bollards
By combining steel tubes and cast iron rings and collars, we are able to offer a very wide range of designs in the composite range.
These products are lighter than our cast range and are therefore easier to handle and install.
Composite bollards are generally supplied with a root but can be supplied with a flange plate, hinge plate or socket mounted.
Bollards of different heights and with different rings and collars can be supplied on request.
We will be happy to develop any products you are not able to find in our standard range.
Steel Bollards – Round and Square
Our round steel bollards are fabricated from standard 114mm, 140mm and 168mm round hollow sections at 900mm high with 300mm root as standard.
Bollards of other heights, diameters and designs can be supplied according to customer requirements.
The square steel bollards are fabricated from standard 100mm, 150mm and 200mm square hollow sections at 900mm high with 300mm root as standard.
Other heights, sections and designs can be supplied according to customer requirements.
Railing Posts and Railing Systems
Designs ranging from the highly decorative to the very simplified are offered to match various architectural and environmental settings.
Our Rail Posts and Panels can be supplied in Gray iron, Ductile Iron, Aluminium and Steel/Cast composites.
Tree Grilles
In addition to adding character to surrounding paved /pedestrian areas, tree grilles are vital for the protection of root systems of trees. They prevent soil compaction by pedestrian traffic and enable the roots to receive water.
Although most of our Grilles are supplied in Gray iron, we can produce grilles in SG iron for load bearing qualities or where the designs require narrow ribs and slots. These are especially popular in U.S.A.
SG iron conforming to British Standard BS EN – 1563, Grade EN – GJS 400-15 and 450-10 is used for the production of SG iron specified Tree Grilles.
Frames fabricated from mild steel and available in light, medium and heavy duty construction are offered for all our Grilles and are essential for the proper fitting of Tree Grilles.
Seating and Benches
Most of our designs are based on 19 th century originals with improvement to the details.
The traditional combination of cast iron bench ends and hard wood timber slats has proved popular for over a hundred years and continues to do so.
Our products can be seen in the prestigious parks of the City of London, in the urban settings outside museums and in tranquil positions by the River Thames or the sea front.
The availability of public seating is essential to maintain the balance between pace and tranquillity in any modern society.
Seats can be supplied in varying lengths with added central legs and arm supports.
Lighting Bases and Columns :
As well as offering the most widely used traditional designs (L301-L304) of Lighting bases in the UK we also supply bases and columns based on classic Victorian designs. These highly decorative items of street furniture help add considerable profile to any setting.
Embellishments in the form of rings, collars and ladder bars are offered with all our columns and bases and we can also produce decorative brackets and other embellishments according to customer specifications.
Our bases are available rooted or flanged with various heights and sections of columns.
Bollards can also be modified to create bases for lighting columns or directional posts.
Repair and Restoration of Architectural Metalwork
Using the latest procedures and materials, Fe Cast Ltd. with its highly experienced team of restorers, engineers and fabricators can undertake all metalwork requiring repair, restoration, reproduction and fabrication.
We have been involved in various prestigious projects for work on Gates, Railings, Balconies, Gazebos and Bandstands.
Materials involved have included Cast Iron, Ductile Iron, Wrought Iron, Bronze, Aluminium and Mild Steel.
Modifications/Bespoke
With over 10 years experience, our team of highly qualified and experienced designers and engineers can help with all modification and new product requirements. For example customers can specify bosses or receptacles on Bollards for fitting barriers and rails or eyelets for fixing chain links. Logos, crests and plaques can also be cast or incorporated onto most of our products thus creating street furniture which are unique and personal to your city, town or organization.
New products are continuously being developed and our Design and Development team will always endeavour to cater for all new product design and development requirements for new projects or coordinating for existing sites.
